The Arkansas Health Care Association was established in 1951 as the state trade association representing the long term care profession in Arkansas.

AHCA is now celebrating its 67th Anniversary of service, representing the majority of long term care facilities in Arkansas. It's responsibilities are to educate, inform and represent members and member facilities before government agencies, other trade associations, and related industries.

The organization provides training, education and assistance to care facilities across the state, promoting high-quality care for patients and strict professional standard for staff. AHCA also strives to cooperate with the state legislature and state Office of Long Term Care to improve the quality of life in Arkansas nursing homes.

Arkansas Health Care Foundation

The Arkansas Health Care Foundation was created by AHCA in 2003 as a non-profit foundation. The primary purpose of the Foundation is to establish continuing public and professional education programs for the long term care profession that will give support to front-line caregivers and nursing home administrators, so that they will have the opportunity to develop and maintain the highest professional standards in order to provide the highest quality of care for nursing home residents throughout the state.
